My how the time flies!
Wow! It's already been a week and a half since I last wrote anything. As the life goes...so goes the blog! (Or something like that!)
We HAVE been busy! On the 23rd we had a wedding to attend. It was the wedding of a young couple from our church. It was really beautiful...both the service and the reception. We had a lot of fun!
Last Thursday, Samuel's new power wheelchair was delivered. Two techs from our provider came out to the house and custom fit the seat and a nice tray for him. It was an exciting day. He's a fairly good "driver", but I have felt a little bit like the mother of a 16 year old who is learning to drive over the last few days. The first day he banged into a lot of furniture and pinned Grandma to the couch (YIKES!), but he has improved greatly over the last couple of days.
It is amazing to see Samuel just GO. It's hard to imagine that he's never had the ability to just move somewhere quickly on his own. I take so much for granted! He really loves the independence.
We bought a full-size conversion van (off ebay). Last Friday Mike flew to Philadelphia to pick it up and drive it back home. It was a long day for him! We have had a used wheelchair lift donated to us and as I sit here and type, Mike is picking it up. A friend from work who is also in a wheelchair and works on cars has offered to help Mike install it. So hopefully in the next week or so, Samuel will be able to travel in the new chair.
Found out today that Mike will be traveling to China on a business trip. We knew it was coming, but didn't know for sure when it would be. He leaves on the 15th and returns on the 24th. I'm not excited about him going, but if he has to go, this will be a good time. His cousin is getting married on the 13th so he won't miss that. And our vacation (to Emerald Isle, NC) is the week of Labor Day. So he'll have a week and a half back at home before we go and hopefully he'll be able to get some things accomplished at work before we go. And he'll also be home in time for the big first day of school!
Well, I better get! Just needed to catch up I guess.
